Race Director's Notes
On behalf of the Redlands Bicycle Classic Organizing
Committee, welcome to the 2008 Classic website. The
Organizing Committee remains dedicated to planning and
hosting nationally honored cycling competitions. We
are exited about the 2008 Classic and expect once again
to have competitors ranging from world class athletes
to youngsters on tricycles with fans of all ages and
abilities energetically cheering on their favorite riders. As
we have grown to appreciate over the years, the Redlands
Bicycle Classic has become far more than just a bike
race. It is a well established tradition that brings
the Inland Empire communities and the professional and
amateur cycling communities together in a healthy and
family oriented environment. This event would not
be possible without the support of countless volunteers
and partnerships with community leaders, local officials,
generous sponsors and of course, cycling athletes of
all skill levels and abilities. With the continued
support of all, we look forward to putting on another
successful event in 2008.
The 2008 Redlands Bicycle Classic (RBC) will be the
24th annual event. Beginning on April 3rd and concluding
on April 6th, professional athletes from around the world
will pursue the cycling challenges and National points
that can be earned by competing in the RBC. In
addition to providing the United States with a premier
professional cycling competition, the RBC offers events
for local citizens of all ages who want to experience
the thrill and excitement of organized bicycle racing. These
public races showcase future cycling talent and encourage
positive activities for our youth. For 2008, the Classic
will be focused on three key areas, Health, Environment
and Diversity, all of which bicycling has a positive
impact on. We are planning on having another nationally
recognized handcycle race sponsored by Possibilities,
an outreach program at Loma Linda University Medical
Center East Campus. We will also continue the Elementary
and Middle School challenge, encouraging children to
train, race and compete.
I enthusiastically encourage you to get involved in
this fun and energizing event. There are many ways
to contribute including, racing, volunteering, and sponsorship. This
is a fantastic event that you should be a part of. For
more information on how you can get involved, please contact
us.
We are currently working on updating this website with
more details on the 2008 event including a schedule of
events, information on how to register for a race and
contacts for volunteering.
Sincerely,
Daniel J. Rendler
